About the Course

ImproMatch is a fun and fast-paced short form competition format where teams of improvisers go head to head on stage for the most laughs. This course covers everything you need for hilariously high-energy scenes, as well as all the trimmings for a supremely funny show.

Super Scenework - The base of any good short form is excellent scenework. We’ll cover scene structure, larger-than-life characters, heightening, and all the acting, writing, and directing skills you need

Audience in Hand - We’ll cover emceeing, audience interaction, and taking suggestions, as well as stage presence, stagecraft, and all the bells and whistles a good short form show needs.

Comedy, Comedy - We’ll learn how to punch up for a comedy style that truly satisfies, and polish our comedy skills learning devices, scene set ups, and the comic mechanisms within every kind of short form game.

All in Good Fun - While it may be dressed up as friendly competition, the truth is a good Match show is based on teamwork, collaboration, and good humoured foolishness. The points are meaningless, but the fun is real!

Important Information

• To respect everyone’s time, we ask everyone to arrive between 7:15pm and 7:25pm so that the class may start on time. The doors will be locked at 7:30pm sharp so that the teachers can begin the class. At 8:00pm the doors will open once more, for anyone who has arrived late. Arrival after 8:00pm means you will have to miss the class, except in exceptional circumstances by previous arrangement.

• Full payment is due on the first day of class, or in instalments by previous arrangement with the school. We do not pro-rate classes. Every student pays the same tuition regardless of attendance.

• Signing up is a commitment to taking the course and there are no make up classes. Please inform the teacher if you are unable to attend a class or are arriving late.

• Didn’t register in time? Don’t fret, just email us to join our waiting list and you will be notified of any spots open. If enough people join the waiting list, a second class may be offered.
