COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Foundations of Improvisation is designed for students who are curious about improv comedy and theatre, and those looking to improve their improvisation skills. Improv is also great for those looking to meet people in a fun environment, to improve their confidence, public speaking skills, ability to work in a team effectively, and to create a more positive outlook on life. Build comfort and confidence to act and create in front of a live audience. Learn the building blocks to fabricate entire worlds from a kernel of an idea. Amaze your friends as you present complete, fun scenes off the top of your head, with stories and characters of your own creation. No experience required. A final performance will take place at the end of the course.

  • Shy? – Improv can help you to overcome stage fright, and is great training for public speaking and self-confidence in professional and social environments.
  • Want to be an actor? – Improv teaches you how to inhabit a character and react realistically on stage. It’s a perfect space to try out new things with and in front of other performers and to learn what tools work best for you, in the moment, as a performer.
  • Already love acting but want to learn more? – Many auditions for theatre or film will call for the actor to improvise or make speedy character choices. Add these skills to your repertoire.
  • Want to have fun and meet new people? – More than anything else, Improv is a laugh. People come back to take part week after week because they get to play games and express themselves in a fun environment. If you’re new to Barcelona, it’s a great place to meet like-minded English speakers.

Important Information:

  • A deposit is required to complete your registration. Full payment is due on the first day of class, except in the case of students paying in installments, who will make payments at the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th classes. We do not pro-rate classes. Every student pays the same tuition regardless of attendance.
  • Signing up is a committment to taking all 10 classes and there are no make up classes. Please inform the teacher if you are unable to attend a class or are arriving late.
  • Class sizes are kept small so as to ensure everyone has maximum opportunity to perform, practice, and get personal feedback with the teacher. With such limited spaces, it’s a good idea to sign up as soon as possible or inquire about availability.
  • Students who miss 3 or more classes will be allowed to finish the class, but their performance in the graduation show will be at the discretion of the instructor.
  • Didn’t register in time?  Don’t fret, just email us to join our waiting list and you will be notified of any open spots. If enough people join the waiting list, a second class may be offered.
