Community is pivotal to the festival. The BIG IF welcomes improvisers from all corners of the world to play, create, and network with friends old and new. Creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for participants is paramount. Harassment, discrimination, or assault of any kind will not be tolerated and we ask that any incidents are reported to one of the organizers immediately so that action can be taken.

travel and ACCOMMODAtION

How do I book my room?
We’ve sorted a fantastic deal with Generator Hostel with a discount for all festival attendees. Simply download and complete this form and send it to with the subject “BIG IF.” Indicate how many people will be staying and which nights you require accommodation. Festivities kick off on Tuesday evening and continue until Sunday.

How do I get from the Airport to the Generator Hostel?
There are several ways to get to Gracia from the Airport. Click here to see a map with relevant public and private transport options that might be useful to you during your stay.

  • Taxi (25€-35€, 30 mins) The easiest choice, especially if you're travelling in a group.

  • Metro (4.50€, 45 mins) The L9 leaves from both Terminals. Get off at Collblanc and change to L5 (direction Vall d´Hebron) then get off at Verdaguer, a 5 minute walk from the hostel.

  • Aerobus (5,90€, 25 mins + metro) leaves from both Terminals and drops you at Plaza Catalunya. From there you will need to take the L3 Metro (direction Trinitat Nova) and get off at Diagonal, a 5 minute walk from the hostel.

How do I get around Barcelona?
The hostel, theatre and workshop venues are all within walking distance from each other, and this is by far the easiest way to move between them. The Red Garter, where our opening party will be held, is easily reached by taking the L3 Metro from Diagonal to Drassanes (25mins), the 45 bus (25mins), or by sharing a taxi (20mins, 10€)

Free transportation to and from the opening party will be provided by the festival. We will leave from the Generator Hostel lobby at 18:30 Tuesday evening.

As it's so easy and there's so much to see, walking is a great way to get around Barcelona. For longer journeys, our metro and bus system ( is inexpensive (especially if you buy a 10 ride T-10, which you can even share between a group of people). Taxi rides are also much more affordable than most cities.
