Friday, NovembEr 3rd

Dr Heather’s Improv Clinic, taught by Heather Urquhart
Level................................................................Advanced
Class................................................................15h - 18h

This workshop is tailored to YOU and will offer direct individual feedback in a safe and supportive environment. Everyone attending will have time specifically devoted to them and when the focus is on your course mates you’ll be working on being support. Expect side-coaching, notes and tools to takeaway so you know exactly how to take your improv to the next level.

The Group Yes, taught by Jules Munns
Level...................................................................General
Class......................................................14:45h - 17:45h

In this workshop we will focus on ensemble work and how ‘yes and’ works on a larger scale. With the emphasis on the collaborative nature of improvisation, together we can create something that is greater than the sum of its parts using: Group physicality, Sound and motion, and Freeform techniques.  We’ll look at longform as an organic group process and see how scenes can arrive rather than being pre-thought. We’ll also look at scenes that develop from placement on the stage and emotional relationship instead of starting with ‘who, what, where’.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH

Keeping it Real, taught by Heather Urquhart
Level................................................................General
Class................................10.30h - 13.30h & 15h- 18h

Come and find the fun and the ease of improvising in scenes that are so close to yourself, even you may not know if you are improvising or not. Skills learned will include: Connecting deeply with your partner; Finding the joy, delight, and fun within realistic, grounded situations: and playing close to yourself and using your own opinions and responses in scenes.

Face Your Fears, taught by Jules Munns
Level...................................................................General
Class......................................................10:30h - 13:30h

As improvisers, we all have different strengths. Some of us produce as many great characters as Gary Oldman, some are as fast as Robin Williams, some play emotion like Lawrence Olivier. These differences are what make us special and unique, the reason why people come back to watch us play time after time. But they can also be a trap.  We are all great at hiding the things we hate and favouring the things we are good at, but what happens when we bring our faults into the light, examine them and try to do something about them?

Character Toolbox, taught by Jules Munns
Level...................................................................General
Class................................................................15h - 18h

Improvisers approach characters in very different ways. Physically, emotionally, intellectually, through genre, animals or sound. In this fast, practical, workshop, you will be introduced to a variety of methods for character creation and have opportunities to try them out. Lot of opportunities to try them out. You will examine those which are most comfortable to you, and those which make you sweat a little, leaving with a toolbox of character creation techniques for all different types of shows.
