Longform Scene Study: Game
Starting on Wednesday, February 1st, BIG SI will be offering the following class. Students must have completed an Introduction to Longform course here or elsewhere, and if not, must audition for the course. If you wish to take it, please read the class dates and reserve your space.
LONGFORM SCENE STUDY: GAME
Building from what you’ve learned in Intro to Longform, building a platform and supporting your teammates, it’s time to explore beyond your base reality. This course will focus in on that leap into the unknown and using it as a bridge to heightening the comedy or drama of a scene. This class will give students a place to practice scenes and delve into a reliable structure upon which to build engaging and entertaining improv.
This is a new 8-week course, taught by BIG SI instructor Noah Levin, helping students perfect the dynamics involved in crafting a scene. This course is an expansion of the Game lesson from Introduction to Longform that allows students the time to work through and digest this method of scenework. Students applying to this class must have taken Introduction to Longform or must audition for the class January 22nd. Email us to arrange an audition.
Get Out of Your Head – Take the time to practice the concept of Game in a full 8 weeks
Make Scenes Make Sense – Learn to understand a scene from the inside and make choices to reinforce your reality
Listen, Listen, Listen – Enhance your sense of awareness on and off stage
Find the Funny – Learn the secrets to make any premise funny through heightening the game
