Short Form Games Intensive
Starting on Wednesday April 26th, B.I.G. School of Improv will be offering the following course. Students must have completed a Level 1 Improv course here or elsewhere, and if not, must audition for the course. If you wish to take it, please read the class dates and reserve your space.
LEVEL 2: SHORT FORM GAMES INTENSIVE
The Short Form Games Intensive is designed for students who already have some experience in Improv, and are looking to get a bit more play time, and stage time – to go from “good at the basics” to “let’s put on a show!” In contrast to the general workshops, where it could be months before you get to try your favourite games again, this Short Form course takes all the favourites and brings them to the fore. The course will teach you to think on your feet and analyse your thought processes, while tackling some of our more challenging performance games. And at the end, you get to show off your hard-earned skills in a spectacular Short Form Show! Completion of Foundations of Improv or instructor approval are required.
This is a special 8-week course, taught by BIG instructor Noah Levin, designed to challenge the improviser to not just play the games but make them FUN!
The 2.5-hour classes will run on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 10:00pm.
- Perform games with 3 and 4 and more other performers at the same time! Learn to listen and react, and to be in the right place at the right time.
- Leap around and get a workout with our fast and furious energy games. Learn to project your voice and to make bold physical character choices.
- Appear intelligent and eloquent with our wordy games. Train your brain to fire off puns to impress the audience!
- Master our musical games… even if you can’t sing!
- Fun homework – accents to practice, pull faces in the mirror, and watch improv videos at home.
Price and Class Size
Short Form Games Intensive costs €160 if you choose to pay in installments, or €140 if you pay in full at the first class. A deposit is required to register for the course.
We’re keeping the class size small so that everyone has the maximum opportunity to perform, practice, and get personal feedback with the teacher – the maximum class size is 12. With such limited spaces, it’s a good idea to sign up below as soon as possible or inquire about availability.
If you sign up, that means that you are committed to take all 8 classes. Please inform the teacher if you will be unable to attend a class or if you are coming late. There are no make up classes. If you are paying via a payment plan, you need to bring cash to pay in installments at the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th classes. We do not pro-rate classes. Every student pays the same tuition regardless of attendance.
