Longform Form Study: The Armando
This course is not available this term. Please visit http://www.barcelonaimprovgroup.com/classes/ to see what is on offer for Winter 2017.
Starting on Tuesday, April 26th, B.I.G. will be offering the following form study. Students must have completed an Introduction to Longform Improvisation course here or elsewhere, and if not, must audition for the course. If you wish to take it, please read the class dates and reserve your space.
“The Armando Diaz Experience” is the longest running improv show in the United States. Originally created by comedy legends Adam McKay, Dave Koechner, and Armando Diaz (Founder of New York’s Magnet Theater). This form combines improvised scenes and monologues from a single story teller. This form is different from the Intro to Longform end of course show, as the narrator has a larger role in framing the show, and the entire performance should have an arc. This five week form study culminates in a show. The class will be conducted like a rehearsal process for a team. Completion of Introduction to Longform Improvisation or instructor approval are required.
The 3-hour sessions will run on Tuesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.00pm with a short break in the middle.
This is Your Show – Learn a new format of longform that you can perform with any group
Dig Deeper – Develop connections with teammates that will allow you to take bigger artistic risks
Advanced Improv Training – Perform improv with a group of experienced improv students
Real Improv Experience – Bond as a team, forged in the crucible of the sweet pressure of an upcoming show
This is a special 5-week form study, taught by BIG instructor Noah Levin, designed to coach improvisers trained in Longform in a new format! Students applying to this class must have taken Introduction to Longform or must audition for the class. Please inquire on the form below if you would like to set up an audition.
Price and Class Size
The Armando form study costs 120€ if you choose to pay in installments, or 105€ if you pay in full at the first class. A deposit is required along with your registration.
We’re keeping the team size small so that everyone has the maximum opportunity to perform, practice, and get personal feedback with the teacher – the maximum size is 10. With such limited spaces, it’s a good idea to get in touch with us as soon as possible to enquire about availability.
If you sign up, that means that you are committed to attend all 5 rehearsals. Please inform the teacher if you will be unable to attend a session or if you are coming late. There are no make-up classes. If you are paying via a payment plan, you need to bring cash to pay in installments at each session.
